Patrick Vale Sketchbook

Patrick Vale is a UK artist, who lives in New York. I admire his work, as he is an artist who compiles huge amounts of sketchbook illustrations and clearly draws on the go. Something that surprised me about his sketchbooks is that he includes drawings of trees/nature, when I had originally inferred that he mainly depicted street views and buildings. For his sketchbook work his main materials include ink pens/fine liners and a black posca pen. When I consider his use of line and the contrast between thick and thin I am strongly reminded of the work of Lucinda Rodgers, who I suspect will have been one of many inspirations for Patrick Vale. I find that his sketchbooks record all manner of subject matter and is a dedication to depicting the bustling scenes and the people that surround him in such a vast city.
